PMP Eligibility at a Glance

To apply for the PMP certification, candidates need a combination of project management experience and formal project management education. PMI requires professional project experience within the required period and at least 35 contact hours of project management education, unless the candidate holds an active CAPM certification.
 
– Secondary degree: minimum 60 months of non-overlapping professional project management experience
– Four-year degree: minimum 36 months of non-overlapping professional project management experience
– GAC-accredited degree: minimum 24 months of non-overlapping professional project management experience
– Education requirement: 35 contact hours of formal project management education, unless waived by active CAPM status
